Fashion Week Spring 2010

Douglas Hannant's Fall 2010 Bridal Collection.

Little girls everywhere dream of getting married at The Plaza so it was fitting that Douglas Hannant showed his Fall 2010 bridal collection in the Palm Court. The designer, who has a boutique at the Plaza, is no stranger to grand fantasies. His high society following favors dramatic confections and this season that is what he gave his like minded brides. We loved the rosette shredded chiffon train on this silver one shoulder gown and imagined the voluminous ivory tulle gown floating down the aisle at the iconic hotel. Hannant’s haute dresses are fit for women who want a modern take on old world glamour and charm. ~Nola Weinstein.

Farah Angsana Bridal Fall 2010.

Farah Angsana made her New York bridal runway debut this season. The designer, who currently divides her time between Paris, Zurich, and Italy, sent her impeccably constructed and detailed confections down the catwalk Monday afternoon. Holding her Fall 2010 Bridal show at the Asia Society was a unique and fitting choice for Angsana, whose looks captured a decidedly Asian influence. The soft lighting and musical selections perfectly complemented Angsana’s grand international sensibility. This season Angsana was particularly inspired by Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur, an Indian princess turned politician. And as a design its clear that she understands how to make a powerful statement by utilizing elegant draping and plays on proportion. Slava Tverskoy Productions produced the two part show, which showcased Angsana’s couture and haute couture creations. We especially loved the ruffles that appeared throughout. Brides looking to make a dramatic entrance on their wedding day will fall instantly in love with Angsana’s designs.

Raggedy Ann and Louis?

We know times are tough, but we didnt expect depression chic to dominate the runway this season. March Jacobs presented a sense of rags to riches optimism at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 show in Paris. These looks remind us of our old Raggedy Ann dolls in far chicer outfits. These folksy mini skirts, jackets and dresses seem like a sure fire way to score yourself a handsome Andy!

Freida Pinto Looked Pretty and Polished at Louis Vuitton.

It’s a long way from the slums for Freida Pinto. The stunning actress took in the Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 collection in Paris this morning. Marc Jacobs seemed very taken by Pinto’s presence. Perhaps a campaign is on the horizon…

Celebs Flock to Chanel.

When Prince shows up you know it’s a big deal. Though the “Artist Formerly Known As” attended YSL the night before, he made it to the Chanel Spring 2010 show to stop and smell the hay. Rihanna, Claudia Schiffer, and Sean Lennon also hit the front row to check out the Kaiser’s latest creations for the iconic house.

Down on the Farm With Chanel.

The Chanel show is always a stunning spectacle and fashion insiders anticipate what Karl Lagerfeld will choose from season to season. For Spring 2010 he went with a stilted barn. Models stomped through the hay in the Grand Palais as Lily Allen sang for the crowd. You could be a farmer in Karl’s clothes!

J Brand and Hussein Chalayan Continue Collaborating for Spring 2010.

“Translating the language, themes and styles of our main-line S/S 10 collection directly into J Brand denim has been an exciting progression in our collaboration, giving us the opportunity to further continue the hybrid aesthetic of our brand.”

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2010: Giambattista Valli.

Giambattista Valli is a clear favorite among the world’s bright young things. His Spring 2010 collection, which was full of mini skirts and dresses in fierce prints, catered to the Hollywood jet set. Ruffled details and animal influences abounded, fusing elegance and edge. Mary-Kate Olsen and beau Nate Lowman, Elettra Rossellina Wiedemann, Margherita Missoni and Leigh Lezark jetted to Paris Fashion Week to take their spot in the front row. And it’s clear that Valli knows his audience as the designer sent down pieces fit for each of his VIP guests.
